Gagyu guinomi sake cup - White Heron
Using a 250 year old brush technique reintroduced by his father, the 13th
generation traditional craftsman Yokoishi Gagyu has created this delightful
guinomi sake cup graced with a dignified heron. Slip is brushed across the red clay
surface of the cup to produce a marbled effect, reminiscent of waves, long
grass or even rice stalks swaying in the breeze. The heron is a trademark
of this particular artist and is hand drawn with a stately realism.
