Hagi vase #2 by Mukuhara Kashun
Roughly octagonal in shape, two sides of this impressive vase have been scored with
deep vertical lines while the other six sides have horizontal cuts.
In addition, two of the sides have an interesting textured feel towards the bottom of the vase.
The ash attached to the vase during firing adds an interesting accent to the front, giving it three distinct color tones.
The design is symmetrical but it has been executed with a freedom of expression which
creates a juxtaposition between its bold, powerful impression and the soft lines and smooth glaze.
A very vibrant example of the craftsman's art.
