Aohagi vase by Noutomi Susumu
A wonderfully rugged, arresting piece.
The surface has been sliced to create a multi-faceted effect, each face
decorated with
designs such as "inka"embossed stars or flower patterns and"kushime"lines made
with a comb-like tool.
Noutomi Susumu's trademark blue Hagi glaze flows in various shades and
thicknesses over the
different textures, resembling a mountain stream tumbling over a rock
and giving the whole piece
a living, breathing feel.
Due to the lighting conditions, the blue flowing glaze appears whiter in the photos
than it actually is. It is more transparent and of a delicate hue.
Hand-crafted in Hagi, Japan by Noutomi Susumu
*The vase comes in a wooden box.
The plinth in the photo is not included in the price.
Approx.size: height 11.2"(28.5cm), width 9.6"(24.5cm)
