Kutani handpainted Cosmos yunomi cup

This lovely cup has been produced by the husband and wife team of Kobo Waremoko. Hand painting on her husband's wares, artist Ueda Sakae creates delicate, feminine pieces each with its own distinctive character. Here the soft blue cosmos flowers are touched with a splash of yellow, evoking calming images of warm autumnal days. The porcelain has a bluish tinge, giving it a nice nostalgic feel and the slightly raised horizontal lines on the body make it easy to hold.
