Tawarade kinsai houhin from Kagetsu kiln The round "circles" on this kyoyaki houhin are modelled on a "tawara", a straw barrel which in olden times was used to carry rice. Representing prosperity, the tawara is one of the lucky symbols commonly used in traditional Japanese designs.Covered with a white glaze and accented with gold, this is a very attractive piece.
