Ki-seto mug by Sakashita Koichi A rustic-looking mug with soft lines. The hand-etched grasses on the body and imprinted flowers on the handle are colored with copper sulphate, which gives them a natural greenish tint. The copper sulphate actually appears as a green tinge on the opposite surface,ie. inside the mug. The name given to this phenomenon is "nuke tanpan" and appears when the glaze is softly fired. "Nuke tanpan" is one of the special characteristics of Ki-seto (Kizeto) ware.
