Japanese pottery - Shigaraki yunomi teacup

The cup you receive may differ slightly in appearance to the one shown in the main photo. This is because each piece is individually hand made and the same glaze pattern can never be exactly reproduced.

Shigaraki Ice and Snow yunomi by Tanii Hozan

Despite it's name which implies bright whiteness, this yunomi has a creamy color.
The overlapping glazes are a result of the "kakewake" technique where the cup is coated with
different colors of slip and the crackled finish gives the impression of fissures
developping in the ice due to the freezing cold.
