Kuro raku chawan, inspired by Chojiro's oguro chawan
Raku ware was founded by Chojiro but flourished under the guidance of the
great tea master Sen no Rikyu. This strikingly simple chawan is modelled
on one which was created by Chojiro in response to a request from Rikyu
for a tea bowl free from intentional decorative features.
This is minimalism taken to the extreme, creation stripped down to its
very essence, resulting in a humble piece devoid of luxury or ornament
but imbued with a sense of deep spirituality.
