Kuro raku chawan, inspired by Akebono chawan by Ichinyu A neat, cylindrical chawan influenced by the work of Ichinyu, Raku Kichizaemon IV,(1640-1698) who pioneered the shiny black glaze with red fleckles. Akebono means dawn. The chawan represents the mingling of darkness and light in the dawn. Handcrafted in the traditional Raku style, the chawan sits beautifully in the hand, conveying a sense of intimacy with the potter's spirit.
