Kuro raku chawan by Shoraku III, Inspired by Nonko's Chidori chawan
Nonko (also known as Donyu) was Raku Kichizaemon III (1599-1656), famed for his series of seven chawan (Shichishu).
This kuroraku chawan is inspired by one of these, a chawan entitled "Chidori" wading bird, because the unglazed areas on the front resemble the bird's footprints.
