Tokoname teapot kyusu by Gyokko

Itome teapot by Gyokko (small)

Itome is the name for a technique where minute grooves are made horizontally, by applying a soft brush onto the teapot body in spin on potter's wheel.

A small size teapot suitable for a cup of tea.
Built-in ceramic mesh infusor

The lids are filed after firing to ensure a good fit. In some cases such filing can cause the paler clay underneath to show through. This is a normal occurence and the paler clay cannot be seen once the lid is in place. Moreover the pale area will get darker with use.
