Kokudei engraved pine leaves ushirode teapot by Gyokudo #5

This lovely smooth teapot has four engraved panels featuring the traditional bamboo motif. The panels have a textured background and the pine leaves have been scraped to reveal the original shudei (orange clay) beneath. Vertical grooves on the sides give the pot a soft shape and the body has a beautiful burnished brown color.

Built-in mesh infusor.
Handcrafted in Tokoname, Japan by Gyokudo(1936-2012), winner of various national prizes.
