Kokudei Shikunshi teapot by Gyokudo

This lovely smooth teapot has four engraved panels featuring the traditional "shikunshi"motifs of orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum and plum blossoms. The panels have a textured background and the blossoms have been scraped to reveal the original shudei (orange clay) beneath. Vertical grooves on the sides give the pot a soft shape and the body has a beautiful burnished brown color.

Built-in mesh infusor.

Handcrafted in Tokoname, Japan by Gyokudo, winner of various national prizes.
