Mayake Koi fish (carp) engraved teapot Konishi Yohei #64

The renowned Tokoname craftsman Konishi Yohei brings all his experience, technique and artistry to the fore in this unique collection of engraved teapots.

After the teapots have been wood-fired, sumi ink of red is rubbed into the grooves to give the design dimension. As this is done after firing, care must be taken not to dampen or rub the body of the pot to prevent the ink from being wiped away.

Created in a wood-fired kiln. Handcrafted by craftsman Konishi Yohei, eldest son of Yusen I, recognized as a Tokoname City Human Cultural Asset and recipient of numerous prestigious prizes.
