Mayake teapot by Konishi Yohei #65

A beautifully formed teapot crafted out of supreme quality clay sourced from the vicinity of Tokoname's ancient kilns and prepared using simple age-old techniques such as soaking and washing in water and extracting only the best quality raw materials.

Created in a wood-fired kiln about 7 years ago.
Handcrafted by craftsman Konishi Yohei, eldest son of Yusen I, recognized as a Tokoname City Human Cultural Asset and recipient of numerous prestigious prizes.

Concerning the doake filter, one of the holes in the lower left-hand corner has a small firing crack running from it to next one, joining them together and giving the impression of uneveness. It is not easy to see with the naked eye when looking inside the teapot but can be felt with the tip of one's finger. Please refer to the sixth photo from the top for an idea. (It is difficult to make it wholly apparent from this angle). This is an aesthetic concern and does not interfere with the pot's functionability.

Length (body + handle): approx. 9.8cm / 3.8"
Height: approx. 6.7cm/ 2.6"
Vol. approx. 145ml / 4.9 oz

US$558.00
