Hand-painted sometsuke Tako karakusa Sansui yunomi by Nakamura Heizo

A large, round yunomi from Arita craftsman Heizo Nakamura who is known for his technique on the potter's wheel. Soft lines left by the wheel give the cup a warm, ribbed feel, which coupled with the traditional sometsuke patterns of Tako karakusa (swirls) and Sansui (sacred mountains) hand-painted by his wife in a subdued shade of blue, create a calm, peaceful atmosphere. The base has a stylised "V" shaped cut.
