Kokudei maple leaves teapot by Shunen II

Kokudei maple leaves teapot by Shunen II. Breath-takingly detailed, this amazing teapot covered in maple leaves showcases the engraving talents of the craftsman,(Mr. Mano Shun-en), winner of various national prizes. The graduation in color from dark kokudei around the handle and spout to lighter shudei at the front leaves a strong impression as do the cut-out maple leaf "windows" on three sides. The little dents that they form give the teapot a softer outline and the unusual choice of yellow for the leaves adds a bright note. The different colors play off each other beautifully and the pitted surface contrasting with the smooth handle and spout results in a perfect balance of shades and textures, highlighting the craftsman's highly developed artistic sense. Built-in ceramic mesh strainer.
