Banko teapots by Yamamoto Hiromi

Banko Yakishime Odare back handle teapot by Yamamoto Hiromi

Wood-fired master piece with a classical Odore shape, reminiscent of old cast iron pots.
I am extremely pleased to offer these great teapots from the collection of renowned Banko craftsman Yamamoto Hiromi on Artistic Nippon.
Now retired, Yamamoto Hiromi is one of the names that comes up when we talk about Banko potters who are involved in the whole process of creating teapots, from sourcing the clay to firing.
He had a specific affiliation with the clay he used, collecting it from the mountains around his hometown and exploiting its full potential through his expert craftsmanship to create superb examples of Banko ware.
He reportedly said that his job was finally done when he got to enjoy a cup of great-tasting tea from one of his pots and that he regarded clay as the soil where he could sow the seeds of his dreams.
