Shinsha teapot from Shinemon kiln

The deep ruby color, called cinnabar due to its resemblance to the natural mineral,is achieved when the copper in the glaze meets an intense reducing fire in the kiln. The piece is fired at 1300 degrees centigrade for many hours.
This teapot has an inbuilt ceramic filter, but also comes with a removable basket-type stainless filter which is useful for brewing fukamushi(deep steamed) tea.
