The Heart Sutra engraved mayake teapot by Konishi Yohei #199
This unique mayake teapot features an engraving of the Heart Sutra, one of the most widely known Buddhist scriptures in East Asia.
The Heart Sutra has been copied, recited, and studied for centuries in Japan. Here, its characters are engraved directly into the clay surface, creating a richly textured appearance and a distinctive visual presence.
This teapot was wood-fired in an anagama kiln, producing natural yohen (kiln effects) that enhance the depth and character of the surface. The expressive carving and natural firing effects complement one another, making each piece unique.
