Tankasai teapot by Konishi Yohei #2
Tankasai is Konishi Yohei's original term for a firing technique that creates distinctive carbonized surface effects.
This teapot is fired twice in an electric kiln, with charcoal introduced during the second firing. The interaction between the clay and charcoal produces subtle variations in tone and texture, creating a unique yohen (kiln-effect) finish.
No two Tankasai teapots are exactly alike, making each piece a unique expression of the firing process and the craftsman's creativity.
