Tankasai Crab sculpted teapot by Konishi Yohei #3

Tankasai is Yohei’s original term for the firing technique which creates this carbonized effect.
This teapot has been fired twice in an electric kiln, the second time with charcoal.
When the clay reacts to the charcoal, the finished is enhanced, achieving an attractive Yohen effect.

Handcrafted by craftsman Konishi Yohei, eldest son of Yusen I, recognized as a Tokoname City Human Cultural Asset and recipient of numerous prestigious prizes.
