Shouchu - the Samurai spirit? Shouchu is enjoying incredible popularity in Japan right now and is also attracting a lot of interest overseas. It is a distilled spirit made from a number of raw ingredients: barley, sweet potato, rice etc. and is known to be beneficial to one's health as well as being low in calories. Shouchu can be drunk in a number of ways. The full flavor is best apreciated by drinking it on the rocks, but it is also often diluted with water (hot or cold), or mixed with Oolong tea or fruit juices. There are no rules as to what kind of glass you should use to drink Shochu. However we highly recommend you try out these specially designed Arita yaki cups. Not only are they beautiful to look at, having been produced by professional craftsmen from kilns in the Arita area, they also contain many special features designed to give you the ultimate drinking experience! Shouchu drunk from these cups really does have a stronger aroma and a mellower taste. The proof is in the drinking...KAMPAI!! |
