Aohagi Tawarade yunomi from Choun kiln

Aohagi Tawarade yunomi from Choun kiln

A beautiful yunomi with an intricate design. The surface has been incised to resemble a "tawara", a straw barrel which in olden times was used to carry rice.
As well as being an indispensible tool for daily life, the tawara also came to represent prosperity and is one of the lucky symbols commonly used in traditional Japanese designs.
The yunomi has a nice, rugged texture and fits well into the hand.

Handcrafted in Hagi, Japan at Noutomi Susumu's Choun kiln
